The beauty of design is its ability to transform, adapt and incorporate seasonal influences and trends. But it's not just about fashionable trends! We are talking about real attitudes and functional novelties, which aim to improve our lifestyle. 2020 is the year of renaissance and return to the origins: details that recall nature, eco-friendly furniture, natural materials and airy spaces are just some of the features of design 2020, which is getting closer and closer to an eco-sustainable concept.
So let's take a look at the 2020 trends: IN or OUT?
THE COLORS OF THE EARTH
Let's start with the colors. Although the Pantone color of the year, Classic Blue, embraces cold tones, the strongest color trend in 2020 is the use of earth colors. Olive green, ochre yellow, terracotta, mustard, chocolate, ... these shades are proposed in mixable palettes, which dampen the enthusiasm of other years when fluorescent or very intense colors prevailed. The colours relax and bring warmth into the home, creating a connection with outdoor spaces.
BIOPHILIC DESIGN
In 2020 the beauty of nature no longer has to be used just to decorate, but above all to make us feel better: biophilic design was born to create spaces on a human scale, capable of making him feel at the centre of his life. It consists in incorporating natural elements into modern environments, creating a positive impact on health. Research shows that incorporating direct or indirect elements of nature into the home environment plays an important role in reducing stress, while increasing creativity and well-being. Some examples: natural light, plants and flowers, natural and ecological materials, colours and textures with a natural appeal.
THE BRIGHTNESS OF GLASS
In reference to biophilic design, the third trend of our selection is a better use of natural light to illuminate the house. Many designers propose large windows, even better if they overlook luxuriant and natural landscapes. This is why glass becomes a fundamental protagonist of interior design 2020, intended as an integral and active part of the entire environment. The classic window concept is distorted, opting for skylights or solutions of continuity between wall and ceiling. Glass is also used to create dividing panels between rooms or even to create entire walls, exponentially increasing the breath and brightness of the rooms.
FUNCTIONAL BUT LIGHTWEIGHT
Today the house is designed to be practical and functional: every space is in fact enhanced with innovative and modular furnishing solutions that allow to adapt to all needs, ideal for a good livability and aesthetics. Equipped walls, light and flexible furniture, passing through bookcases, all modern and trendy devices for simple, elegant and sustainable projects. In particular, the bookcases have become lighter and more refined; forget about grandma's massive wooden bookcases! The modern ones are fine and graceful, they furnish and create useful surfaces without weighing down or removing light from the space in which they are placed.
