Founded in 1932 by Luigi Fontana, owner of an important glass manufacturing company, and Gio Ponti, FontanaArte was the first Italian business to establish itself in the interior design sector. Continually experimenting with new ways of defining contemporary decoration, Gio Ponti brought in Pietro Chiesa, already owner of an artisan glass-making workshop.
