Tessuti Battuti glass vase by Venini
Different colours and a multitude of lines, neat and orderly. They come together then diverge, alternating and following the curved profiles of the thinnest shapes ever created by Carlo Scarpa.
Alternating light and dark coloured lines on shades of Coral, harmoniously following the guidelines produced by Carlo Scarpa. And reproduced by VENINI’s master glassblowers by using the skilful "Canne" technique and by finally grinding the glass: two truly unique creations.
SOFFIATO (BLOWN) - This technique takes its name from the action performed by the craftsmen when they blow air into a long metal cane attached to a piece of glass in order to expand and shape it into various shapes. This glassmaking tradition has remained unchanged for more than a thousand years. Thanks to this ancient technique and to the experience and manual skill of the master glassmakers, a simple piece of glass is transformed into artistic masterpieces that are truly one of a kind.
BATTUTO (BEATEN) - This is the cold-crafting technique that most challenges the skill and delicacy of the master glassmaker. The distinctive characteristic of Beaten glass is that its surface is “sculpted” by hand with a grinding wheel. This creates countless small and apparently irregular marks on the glass surface.
TESSUTO - In the woven technique, flat and cold glass Canes (in Italian, Canne), which look very much like ribbons in matt or strong colours, are lined up on a surface following a pre-established pattern. Then, they are heated up, molten, and worked in the furnace to shape the actual vase.
