The vastness of the cosmos cannot be perceived by the human eye, thus we can only imagine its depth, the matter and voids it contains.
Three glass elements blend together to create the geometry of a sphere concealed by their conjunction. Have you ever seen the cosmos so close? Space in matter. Matter in space. Finite in its infinity and vice versa. This is how Tadao Ando imagines it: it’s up to your imagination to fill the void.
SOFFIATO (BLOWN) - This technique takes its name from the action performed by the craftsmen when they blow air into a long metal cane attached to a piece of glass in order to expand and shape it into various shapes. This glassmaking tradition has remained unchanged for more than a thousand years. Thanks to this ancient technique and to the experience and manual skill of the master glassmakers, a simple piece of glass is transformed into artistic masterpieces that are truly one of a kind.
VELATO - In this technique, the glass is ground very delicately, which tends to slightly veil the surface of the object.
